You remebered correctly as it seems. I switched this option off and 
could access this channel directly. Thnx for the hint! :)

Nevertheless there seems to be a flaw in the xchat-source somewhere 
because there is a good chance that xchat crashes completely with a 
segfault when getting overwhelmed with the /who-answers...
