I don't know of any solution that currently lets you do this.

It would be cool though to see a modular multi-protocol approach to connections in xchat. It might work well for things like MOOs/MUDs via telnet... not to mention that it might open the possibility of joining jabber/xmpp conferences in xchat directly, or other chat protocols.

After all, it's xCHAT, not xIRC :)
