marking away users in a different color (away-status tracking)

Hi All,

I've added a new feature that shows away users in a grey color in the
userlist. You can try this feature by checking out cvs, note that
sourceforge's anonymous cvs is up to 24 hours behind, so the code might not
be there yet.

I'm just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on how to track away-status
changes without using too much bandwidth? It seems the only way to do it is to
poll the server.

Currently it gets the information from "WHO #channel", which is sent
periodically to the server. On large channels (>300) it is not sent, because
it simply takes too long. It also updates the the away-status from a WHOIS
reply, if you happen to issue one.

There's also code to take advantage of servers that support WHOX, to reduce 
bandwidth slightly.
