This is dependent on your Gtk keybindings theme.  I'm not sure if there
is a UI to change it in Gnome, but you can use the GConf editor.  Set
the key /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_key_theme to "Emacs" and you'll
have these keybindings back.

If you're not using Gnome, you can try putting the line:

  include "/usr/share/themes/Emacs/gtk-2.0-key/gtkrc"

in your ~/.gtkrc-2.0, or something like it.
