What I thought, was to always leave an icon in the tray, but change it on message.Yup. I played with this a little while back, haven't had time to mess with it much, but I took a look at what the rhn-applet package did in RHL 8.0 ... the rhn package mainly used python, but just extrapolated from that to use the c functions. It was pretty trivial to get the image to show up when the nick highlight callback gets run. Didn't get any farther then the leaky 20 minute hack to do that :) Some thoughts: o notification per channel, or one global o a timer on the lifetime of the icon in the system tray? o switching workspaces to go directly to xchat when clicking on the notification
