Thanks for pointing that out. Here's another version of the patch (version
0.3 now, yay), which fixes those issues and should compile with all and any
configure switches, as well as getting rid of the 250-ms-timer that Peter
complained about. ;) I didn't test it extensively, but the first impression
was that it seemed to work. Patch is again available as incremental patch
[1] and patch against stock Xchat 1.8.9 [2].
