irc:// style URLs
These are a nice way to interlink IRC & the Web.
They are supported by at least 2 Windows clients - mIRC & ViRC
X-Chat doesn't support any command line options, is that correct?
The simple way to support irc:// style URLs would be if X-Chat would run:
xchat irc://irc.server.org/channel
& then launch a new x-chat instance (if one wasn't running already) &
connect to this server & channel.
How easy would this kind of functionality be to add?
Best Wishes,
Fran.
PS: If this could be done, then a simple registry change is needed in
Windows to get browsers to use this:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\irc]
@="URL:IRC Protocol"
"URL Protocol"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\irc\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files\\XChat\\xchat.exe,0"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\irc\shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\irc\shell\open]
@="&Connect with X-Chat"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\irc\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\XChat\\xchat.exe\" %1"
