Color Code for Colored Nicks?

Hi,

I just found X-Chat yesterday, and I love it.  I'm trying to customize
highlighting so that I can have it look like this:

Yellow <
Nickname colored according to the random nick color (I have the setting on)
Yellow >
Yellow message

I have set the Channel Msg Hilight event to this:

%C8<%O$1%C8>%O%C8$t$2%O

The problem is, the nickname always comes out white, instead of the color of
the nick when displayed with non-highlighted messages.

Is there a code for the random nick color, or is it a bug in X-Chat that's
preventing it from using the color for the nick?
