When I started using XChat, I had registered a NICK for a channel on the
server. I entered the password for the registered NICK in the SERVER's
configuration window in the PASSWORD field and it worked. In other words
when I had XCHAT automatically connect to these servers and in turn join
channels it used the password in the PASSWORD field to identify myself to
the server in question. I therefore incorrectly assumed that this PASSWORD
field was for the password if using a registered nick.

Since my last post I have rectified the problem with the one server that I
mentioned by indeed using the /msg nickserv identify command in the CONNECT
CMD box to fix the problem.

Thanks to you and Doug Lim for helping me out.
