Chat window questions

I hope some one can clarify or solve a problem that I am having under 
X-CHat 1.8.7. The problem that I am having is that the auto-chat window is 
opening without me authorizing the chat. I have tried setting the "Auto 
Accept DCC Chat" off but if I do that then the only way that I know that 
someone wants to chat is a single line in the channel indicating a chat 
request. When I first used X-Chat I am sure that a window would open up and 
ask me to approve the chat session before opening the chat window. Am I 
imagining this or is there some way to restore this capability?
