Well, a check in the configure script is ok, but if it wipes out all
nls just because my revision is to old to handle chinese characters
(which I don't use anyway) that'll be stupid! I worked around the
problem simply by removing the offending file from the list of the
languages. A --enable-chinese option, that one _requiring_ 0.10.37
looks a lot better to me. Still better, why not have an argument to
--enable-nls giving the language list? someting like
./configure --enable-nls="it,fr,en" .....
