Are you by any chance running a network behind a masqurade? If you are, you
need to be running a masqurade aware ident server on the system doing the
masqurading. I use a program called oidentd, to handle all the ident requests
for my entire network. I've configured the machine to respond with a
different ident for each machine on my network, so that they can all be
connected without being accused of cloning, at least, not too often.
