Numeric response themes... or another idea... and other things
Hiya, I remember asking zed about this AGES AGES ago but I can't remember
what any responses were, the editable text responses are for set things
like "whois line 1/2/3" etc. etc., but I was wondering how easy/hard it
would be to allow users to change responses based on the server numerics.
The thing is, I often use the "/who *.<hostmask>" to locate people who may
be under a different nick, such as "/who *.nz" to find all people online
on a server with a matching ident. However, the layout presented in xchat
is quite iki to read, a nice tabbed list, or colour seperated list would
be good, and being able to edit the server response would provide this.
The other idea I had was a new dialog window similiar to the channel list,
but being a who list (which can be sorted and filtered), showing things
along the lines of:
Nickname Full Name Channels Server
=========================================================
Talios Mark Derricutt #se7en nz.undernet.org
Dekan Mark's 2nd box #se7en,#nz us.undernet.org
Doing this in straight text to the active window should be possible via a
script shouldn't be too hard, assuming we can disable the servers /who
output (which from memory caused me a headache the last time I tried
this). I've noticed that Dalnet's ircd no longer displays the first
channel a user is in in its /who output.
The standard output from mIRC (windows) is:
#se7en Talios H ~mark@203.97.56.180 :0 Meep
#se7en BootBoy88 G@ ~Totenkopf@p95.tnt1.dialup.the.net.nz :3 HFFH From NZ
#se7en W H@d cservice@undernet.org :3 For help type: /msg W help
Which is easier to read than what XChat gives which has the nick as the
2nd to last field (from memory).
One feature of mIRC I also like is its filtering of /who output, the
command:
/who #se7en *.nz
Will just list the users in that channel that match the provided mask, any
chance some of you guys can come up with something like this? I may take
another look at it myself, but I don't really know enough c/perl to really
do much...
