Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Molecular Epidemiology
Queen’s University Cancer Research Institute

The Cancer Research Institute at Queen’s University invites applications for a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Epidemiology.  Molecular epidemiology is defined broadly to mean the integration of both molecular and epidemiologic methodologies in the study of cancer etiology, treatment or prognosis.

The successful candidate will be a recognized leader in the field who has research expertise in epidemiology and laboratory or clinical sciences.  A successful track record of active collaboration in transdisciplinary research is required.  The Chair will be appointed at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor in the appropriate department of Queen’s University Faculty of Health Sciences.  The successful candidate will be eligible to be considered for tenure.

The Cancer Research Institute was recently established to foster transdisciplinary cancer research at Queen’s University.  The Institute, which includes nearly 30 Faculty members and a broad mix of graduate students and postdoctoral and clinical fellows, brings together internationally recognized research groups with expertise spanning the spectrum of cancer research.  While pursuing his/her independent research program, the Chair will be expected to play a leadership role in developing bridging projects that will link the Institute’s laboratory, epidemiological and clinical research programs.   In February 2003 the Institute will move into a new dedicated facility within the Health Sciences complex at Queen’s.
