Does anyone have information/data regarding assaults/threats with firearms
on campus? Last week we recently had an incident over a game of pool in our
Student Activity Center. 3 students got into an argument and one pulled a
gun. All were sober too. Here in Indiana it is a state law that firearms are
not allowed on public school property except for law enforcement personnel.
Even with a permit to carry.

Subject: No guns on campus policy
Colleagues,
I am looking for a reality test on a piece of information I picked up
once. Somewhere, I read that the single most effective suicide
prevention measure that a college/university could do is to have a
no-firearms-on-campus policy.
I can't remember where I saw this. And I am wondering if I even
remember it correctly. In other words, does anyone know if this is true
(empirically speaking) and, if so, where it came from?
Thanks very much! I am looking forward to attending the AUCCCD
conference for the first time.
