  Find DivX Movies Online
  -----------------------

In response to frequent user requests, we've launched a cool new
feature on DivX.com--the official DivX Search Engine. The new
search engine was designed to crawl publicly available web sites on
the Internet and provide thorough search results that include
thumbnail images from each piece of content. We think the new search
engine provides the best way to find DivX movies online--all movies
online, for that matter. (Well, except for those video formats no
one uses... ;-)) You can search for movies in DivXô video and other
formats using the Search Engine, and the search results will include
all genres of movies by default.

The search engine is featured on the renamed DivX Movies section of
DivX.com (formerly called the "DivX Showcase" section). And if you
know of a site that contains great DivX content, by all means let us
know; we'll add it to the DivX Search Engine and the video content on
that site will be included in the search results. So now viewers
looking for cool DivX movies and filmmakers who've created cool DivX
movies can find each other at last. Another heartwarming example of
the many ways that DivX Video brings people together ;-).

* Search for DivX Movies using the new search engine:

* Submit a web site to be included in the search engine:

  In Other News...
  -----------------

As hard as it is to believe, there are a few things in the world
that matter besides DivX video. We live in fascinating times, and
every day there's a new technology-related development directly
affecting the lives of people in the DivX community. For that
reason, we've decided to add a semi-regular feature to DivX News:
"In Other News" will provide a link to a featured article of the
week that we believe sheds light on a pertinent topic. Sometimes
the DivX team will write these articles, and sometimes we'll link
to interesting stories in external publications. And we welcome
audience participation--if you have something to say about the
current state of the technology world, feel free to send your
article to info@divx.com and we'll consider it for publication.

  This Week's Feature:

* Movie Studios Press Congress in Digital Copyright Dispute--
New York Times (Free Registration Required)
  <http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/29/technology/29DIGI.html>

There's a legislative brouhaha a'brewing around digital copyright
issues, and this article from the New York Times provides a cogent
analysis of the various interests and behind-the-scenes forces at
play. This is serious stuff for anyone interested the future of
digital entertainment--the battle lines are being drawn, and it
occurs to us that nobody's right if everybody's wrong. (Was that
copyright infringement? Oh well, apologies to Buffalo Springfield,
  for what it's worth.)

  Need a New Skin?
  -----------------

Everybody needs a new skin every once in a while:

  viewing experience. Submitted by "Baby-C."

* Red Water: As the skin author notes, "If you don't drink red
water, you ain't cool." Can't very well argue with that. Submitted
  by "fifthnail."

* Sage XP: A cool Windowsblind inspired skin. Submitted by
  "ZechsMerquiseGX."
