Subject: Not true, after all: RE: Friday humor: Al Gore, former VP, now a
restauranteur
Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2001 00:40:43 -0500

Alas, it was a good story while it lasted. But it's been corrected:
http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20011130/pl/people_gore_dc_2.html
" CORRECTION: Al Gore Restaurateur Story Withdrawn
The Nov. 29 LAGOS, Nigeria, story headlined ``Al Gore says now
restaurateur in Tennessee'' is wrong and is withdrawn. The story was based
on an erroneous hearing of Gore's remarks.According to a transcript
provided by a representative for Gore, the former vice president said ``...
we stopped at a little family restaurant in Tennessee. We were eating there
by ourselves. It was a low-cost restaurant called Shoney's.''There will be
no substitute story. "
Too bad, I has some fun plans for that little morsel in my Dubya's Dayly
Diary.

So, you're in prison, bored and dying for a beer ... what would you do ?

Subject: [darwin] Deluded inmate "just trying to get by"...

Mark is Deluded. Yes -- that's his name, Mark Delude -- no artistic
license taken or needed in this one. Somehow this intellectual genius
has managed to make it through 39 years of life. He was caught
for "minor offenses." He was, therefore, serving time in a Vermont
work camp for "nonviolent offenders."

It is not clear to me whether prison "marriages" are common in
his institution of residence, but the Deluded one obviously likes
the place. He was just trying to get by and finish his 8 to 30 month
sentence. I guess he just needed something to do on a Friday
night, and the party supplies in the camp were running low.

Unfortunately, having already displayed an amazing prowess for
"of-fences" (hence his presence at the work camp in the first place),
he managed to become confused and also have problems with
plain "fences" too.

Guards were de-Deluded. That's correct, he was missing. They
couldn't find him anywhere on Friday night. So, the State Police
were called in. They found him inside the camp fence with a case
of beer and a carton of cigarettes.

Seeking a better way to pass his time, the Deluded one crawled
under the fence, walked over a mile to a local convenience store,
and bought the goods he was caught with. He caught breaking
back in to enjoy his treasure trove.

His beer-run will net him an additional year or two behind bars, and
a "bed" at a more "secure" (and anally-enlightened) prison. I bet
he'll make a nice wife.

I predict we'll be hearing more from this one in a year or two...

In His name,

reb
