ahh, now I found what causes a lot of crashes for me...
If you specify a URL that doesn't have a filename at the end, it crashes.
I'm guessing it has to do with the parsing of the URL...
but I haven't looked closely at it yet...

ie, 

http://thinker.emporia.edu  fails, but
http://thinker.emporia.edu/index.html  works 
(although the output is not complete)
