Exactly what I was getting at... the quality of the code may not
be that great, but as long as it can limp in the right direction
it may be a quick stop gap until something better is written...

If the interface sucks for what we need, then is it possible to
place it in wrappers so as to simulate what is needed.  This could
let you get something running quite quickly... 

Hary, is this code you wrote to replace libWWW available?  Can it
be made into some sort of library Mnemonic could leverage?
