Locale for typing ancient Greek

Hi.

Which locale should I use when typing ancient (polytonic) Greek texts?

I was trying to type them under the en_US.UTF-8 locale, but some dead keys, 
like dead_ogonek, aren't working with Greek characters, because they're not 
listed in the related Compose file.  Strange enough, some of the dead keys 
are there: dead_grave and dead_iota (this one is specific to Greek).

Shouldn't all the dead keys and the characters to which they can be applied be 
listed in the en_US.UTF-8 Compose file?  Why some of them are there?
