Frank Mittelbach (firstname.lastname@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) has posted on
2003-01-07 on latex-bugs@latex-project the beginnings of a far more
lightweight UTF-8 support for LaTeX within the inputenc framework, which
will hopefully find its way into the next release:
