Sometimes, you actually need to check the width of an ISO 10646
character, not of a wchar_t, so a wrapper function could be
useful. For the __STDC_ISO_10646__ case you really want to use 
wcwidth() to save space and get consistency with other programs
on the system. 

But, as you know, not every system uses ISO 10646 for wchar_t.
