At some point in time, the Linux kernel only knew about
the following dead keys:

0x0400  dead_grave
0x0401  dead_acute
0x0402  dead_circumflex
0x0403  dead_tilde
0x0404  dead_diaeresis
0x0405  dead_cedilla

(These days an arbitrary symbol can be a dead key.)

In those old days, when dead_ogonek, dead_caron,
dead_breve, dead_doubleacute was needed in some
keymap, it was not available, and one of the above
six had to be used instead.
