Re: Unicode IM (was Yudit and XIM)
Hi guys,
I looked at Language Engine Interface Specification 1.2.
What I like most is the Locale Independent design and
freedom (no X11). This will be definitelly in my TODO list.
Are there any movements (working ones) that walk away from
X11, build a totally different, window-independent collection
of libraries? The reason I am thinking about it is because
I think X11 is a bit outdated and it should be re-designed.
What I mean by window independency is separating stuff that
need windows (rendering) from things that don't
(input methods).
That library could include IIIM library and in addition,
a new gui library that supports splines, sub-pixels
transparency. It should also have an X11 compatibility layer
in a library on top, to support existing apps.
Still I think, X11 is many times cleaner than Win32api, and
the only thing that is easier is - as you said - input method.
Still not hmm..., perfect :) See below:
My Best-3 Win32 docs (Supposed to be year-end geek-humour, no harm meant)

#1 Why do we need an os? Do everything yourself: ClipBoard
search deja with: ChangeClipboardChain SetClipboardViewer "MS DOCS"
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ChangeClipboardChain+SetClipboardViewer+%22MS+DOCS%22&hl=en
#2 Why do we need so many arguments for functions? : Registry
search deja with: RegCreateKeyEx "parameter undocumented"
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=RegCreateKeyEx+%22parameter+undocumented%22&hl=en
#3 Why i am always mistaken?: IME
search deja with: WM_IME_COMPOSITION Problem Solved
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=WM_IME_COMPOSITION+Problem+Solved&hl=en
Now probably this document will also appear in the search :)
Cheers
