18x18ja update

The 18x18ja.bdf Unicode font in

  http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/download/ucs-fonts-asian.tar.gz

now covers not only CP1252 and JIS X 0208, but also the extended
Japanese character set JIS X 0212. In other words, it now has everything
that you might expect in a modern Japanese email message. Have a look at
it.

By the way, JIS X 0221-1995 specifies 7 non-overlapping UCS subsets for
Japanese users:

      + Basic Japanese (6884 characters): JIS X 0208-1997, JIS X
        0201-1997
      + Japanese Non-ideographic Supplement (1913 characters): JIS X
        0212-1990 non-kanji, plus various other non-kanji
+ Japanese Ideographic Supplement 1 (918 characters): some JIS
        X 0212-1990 kanji
      + Japanese Ideographic Supplement 2 (4883 characters):
        remaining JIS X 0212-1990 kanji
      + Japanese Ideographic Supplement 3 (8745 characters):
        remaining Chinese characters
      + Full-width Alphanumeric (94 characters): for compatibility
      + Half-width Katakana (63 characters): for compatibility

18x18ja now supports all of these except for Japanese Ideographic
Supplement 3.
