Yes, the Thai message appears very nice. Good job!

Regarding Thai combining characrters, it requires at most 2 combining
characters per base character. The other sample Thai text could
demonstrate this.

I'm now starting to hack combining character support into xterm. minimal
progress so far : have a look at
<http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~rwb197/xterm/combining-1.png> if you are
interested.

You might note the accent over the a is lower than the accents over the
other things : this is because "lowercase a" followed by "combining grave"
is the only character my xterm converts to it's precomposed equivilant
atm.

But anway, does anyone know how many combining characters per base
character I need to support for Thai? Is that Thai sampletext displayed
acceptably?
