Java implies Unicode, but only in the sense that it supports 16-bit characters
and converts between different encodings.  In more recent versions, the
Graphics2D class provides some very limited Unicode text rendering
capability: bidi reordering that does numbers incorrectly and shapes Standard
Arabic letters.
