Indic script renderer from Linux-India project
Hi,
I was looking at the archives of this mailing list and saw this particular
message:

Rendering Indic (includes Tibetan, Myanmar, and Khmer) is non-trivial and the
BiDi algorithm has little to do with it. There are no standards to work with.
Fonts that already exist currently dictate how rendering is done for these
scripts, and that is likely to be the case for a long time to come.
----
The ISCII standard has been followed widely in the commercial world for Indic
scripts. The standard document can be obtained from GIST homepage of C-DAC
India. I have kept a copy at
http://www.egroups.com/docvault/linux-india-programmers/iscii91.pdf
Based on this standard there has been some work in customizing RXVT to display
Indic scripts. The program is rxvt-idev and can be obtained from
http://members.tripod.com/~ilinux/
I suppose it would be easy to separate out the parser and rendering logic from
this program to incorporate into the GScript program.
Regards.
