Need memory allocation help

Hi!

I am having a problem with memory allocation in linux Suse7.3.  I have 3GB RAM in my machine.

Now when I tried to  allocate memory  more then 2GB using  calloc() function, it gives sagmentation error.  My program need a unsigend int(1byte)  array of  2.3Gbyte.   When I run getrlimit() function it shows the current limit more then 4GB.  I am wondering how to allocate more then 2.3GB memory.  I wanna use only physical memory.

Could you help me?
