HUGE Cached values from /proc/meminfo??

Dear MM folk-
I'm running 2.4.13-ac5 on a Dell PowerEdge 350 with 256Mb RAM with a RH7.1
original install.

'cat /proc/meminfo' and 'top' both report some very odd values:

$ cat /proc/meminfo

System performs "normally" AFAICT.
memtest86 tests ran without reporting any errors.

I came across an Oct 3 posting -
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-mm&m=100214462923216
which ref's similar problems and ref's a patch to shmem.c but the patch:
 a) doesn't apply to ac5 source
 b) doesn't seem to have been applied to ac5
so I'm pointing it out to y'all in case it needs to be "looked into".

If you need more system details please ask and I'll be happy to investigate
anything you might need.

Regards and thanks-
Doug Monroe
