Re: linux-future summary
Another wild idea -
Since the future of Linux is a completely bug-free operating system why
not have a "subtle" bug repository attached to your page as well?
I know that the real bugs are fixed within 24 hours or less, but there are
some things which are "subtle", i.e. some think they are bugs, others
think it is ok, and yet others think "there are other important things to
do" (but usually fail to point out on the spot, what those "important
things" are).
To make things more concrete, here is an example -
The regular files in /proc ought to behave like regular files, i.e.
imposing no record structure. The /proc/<pid>/maps violates this.
Also, one should be able to read them any number of bytes at a time, e.g.
read(fd, buf, 1) should work. Most files (e.g. /proc/sys/kernel/modprobe)
violate this rule.
If "bugs" like that are listed and published, perhaps, more people will
start scratching their heads and come up with "fixes" which one day turn
into fixes?
