Beg to differ. HFS and HPFS are not nearly identical. They share several
traits, but they have major differences.

Not quite! Its a good file sytem for some things. Naturally it should not
be a primary file system, but it's an excelent secondary file system!

Agreed. NTFS is very similiar to HPFS. But it is popular so it should be
cosidered.
