again, which scheme? 

if you plan to backup your data on dvd, using loop-aes to encrypt the
whole filesystem, you have to use loop-aes in multiple key mode
because the single key mode is weak

I would use gpg for that, in combination with rar. rar's recovery
record feature has save my life multiple times so far.
