Please try specifying LINUX_SOURCE= with absolute path, like this:

make LINUX_SOURCE=/usr/src/linux-2.4.25-ben1

I am not sure if relative path works there at all.

oh, i'm really sorry. when i wrote "LINUX_SOURCE=.." i actually meant
"LINUX_SOURCE=(and so on, you know, the path to the kernel source, specified as in the README file)". so i really did run this command, now in full length (it wraps the line!)

evil@sheep:~$ make clean modules LINUX_SOURCE=/data/MP3/scratch/kernel/linux-2.4-benh-RSYNC/

(yes, the path is pretty strange being under "../MP3", but i have some problems with disk space atm.)

so after running the commands above i got the error messages i told about.

Thanks for the quick reply and sorry again for the confusion,
Christian.
