Externally compiled module version should work with all stable kernels out
there. If someone can find a widely used kernel that does not work with
loop-AES' loop.o module, I definitely want to know about it.

Loop-AES' module build instructions are in the README file. No kernel
patching required.

Last time I checked, debian included util-linux patch from kerneli.org. That
should work with loop-AES, but if you care about security, I recommend that
you set up seeded+iterated password. If kerneli.org/debian version does not
let you do that, you are better off installing more secure version from
loop-AES.
