Well, I guess I'm not overly concerned about the problems of someone who
won't lift a finger to help themselves, but expects others to take care of
problems for them.

You're asking for the list owner to go to a heck of a lot of extra work. And
I'd definitely object to "volunteer moderators" -- how do we know we can trust
them?

The cypherpunk node at lne.com has pretty effectively solved this problem
without too much work on the part of the listowner, if this list were to seek
such a solution, I'd suggest looking there first.
However -- what I do really object to is the fact that I didn't get the spam
that started this thread, but now I've gotten 7 emails regarding it. Which is
the real problem, the spam or people posting complaints to the list about it? If
you must complain, why not do it to the listowner directly? Why burden the rest
of us with what is *your* problem?
And with all the spam that comes to everyone everyday, if you really aren't
running procmail or some other filter, I guess I don't know what to
say. Probably I should just add the complainers to the filter.
