Alexander,

I've successfully installed the 2.4.0.1 patch, and applied and
installed the util-linux patch. The loopback encryption appears to
work to a point, and then lock the system up. I've been only using
AES with 128 bit key so far.

This appears to happen under load, but is inconsistent. If I start
the encrypted loopback while many other tasks are ongoing, leaving
little real memory, it appears to happen quicker. The first occurence
was during the "mkfs -t ext2" phase, but that went successfully after
rebooting and only starting that process over. The second occured
during the copy of several thousand files to the encrypted loop
(2GBytes in size). About halfway through the copy process the system
locked again.

Rebooting and retrying was successful. Creating a new loop and
copying the same files back also worked fine.

The lock appears to be at the kernel level, as everything freezes
solid, including the digital clock I have running.
