Migrating a process is fine. The context of this note was talking about
continually checkpointing such a process *at every heartbeat*. This is very
expensive. Without some kind of hardware support it's probably
impossible...
I worked for Bell Labs for 21 years, and saw various kinds of HA support in
various products.
I've seen people do this kind of thing with good hardware support and it
(continuous availability checkpointing) is *still* very expensive.
