Matt,
Someone else just pointed this message thread out to me, and I need to weigh
in. I wrote TotalFBO, own the company that produces and supports it, and am
extremely unhappy that you are so unhappy with the product. Please contact
me directly and tell me what your problems are and why you think its so
unusable. We've been doing this for 14 years, have nearly a thousand clients
worldwide, some reaching nearly 100 concurrent users, so I'm sure whatever
problems you've had can be resolved.

I can be reached at george@hbcinc.com, or call me directly at 800-359-9804.

Thx,
George Lehmann

(Note - I've cc'd this widely as many people will likely be interested
in the data set being available. Please pass along to anyone else you
think might be interested.)

Many of you might recall a discussion on this list a while back about
the FAA airport/navaid data sets that were available for CD update. Paul
Tomblin, author of the PalmOS CoPilot Waypoint Generator web page is
subscribed to these CD updates (so that his page can be up-to-date), and
has graciously allowed me to put up a mirror of the data he is
receiving.

Because he is serving the data behind a cable modem, he doesn't want to
make public his distribution site, but I am making a mirror available
here:

	http://ftp.umr.edu/pub/faa/
	ftp://ftp.umr.edu/pub/faa/
	rsync ftp.umr.edu::ftp/pub/faa/

Note - the 'data' directory is a mirror from his server, I am going to
make the data available in other forms, such as 'other/data.tar.gz' and
'other/data.tar.bz2', which are compressed tar files of the data
directory. The .gz one is compressed 94.5% from the original data size!

If you have the resources/desire/ability, PLEASE mirror this data
elsewhere so it will be available as widely as possible. (Use the rsync
method preferably, but ftp/http is also available.) If you are willing,
I will list your mirror in the read-me.txt file in the faa/ directory.
(Particular, I'd like to see the flightgear and fplan developers mirror
the data on their sites as well.)

Also, please donate to Paul's site. These updates are costing him $36
every 56 days for a new CD. Even if it's only a few bucks, it'll help
him defray the costs. You can donate by following the links at the
bottom of his web page:

	http://xcski.com/~ptomblin/CoPilot/

Thanks Paul for making this data available!

Note as always - this data is provided with no warrantee, and you
shouldn't use it for actual flight planning since it's not an 'official'
update, even though it's a copy of an official update. Blah blah blah.
You know the drill.
