web project
Hello,
I write on this list altough this mail is not directy related to Linux but
aviation and computer oriented.
I have started a few years ago (1997) in France a web site offering free web
hosting,
email and aviation services for web site dedicated to aviation and sport
flying. This website was decollage.org and is hosting around 250 web sites,
all dedicated to aviation, everything was financed by myself and my company.
As I have a new job and a new family situation (first baby !) , I have no
more time to manage the server, the web site and I must close the server last
week.
As I don't want to lose the work of several years and because I want to
develop a non profit online aviation comunity in different languages (my
native language is french) , I have learned from the past and as I don't want
to start it alone, I'm looking for volunteers to start a new web site
offering the same than decollage.org was ofefring , but this time with more
services dedicated to aviation and air enthusiasts.
I have registred a few years ago a domain name for this project :
Flying.org
There will be some rules about this project :
- If the number of people working on this project is ok (more than 5) a non
profit company will be created
- Everything must be non profit
- All code made will be GPL licensed
I have already the servers and the bandwith so technical and money is not a
problem.
So if you are interested, have a particular knowledge in any aviation field
or computer related (unix) please email me at benoit@decollage.org or
benoit@flying.org, if the number of people is sufficient, a mailing list will
be created.
About me, I'm 27 , working as CTO (worked before as sysadmin in several
companies) for a web hosting company in Montreal and flying since I'm 14.
Benoit
ps : sorry for my bad english.
