FlightGear 0.7.6
FlightGear version 0.7.6 is now available for download. The
FlightGear Flight Simulator project is a free, open-source flight
simulator project. Source code for the entire project is available
and licensed under the GPL.
There is a new 0.7.6 version of the base package that corresponds with
this new release. We also have a complete rebuild of the world
scenery in progress (which now includes our global land use / land
cover database.) Everyone that upgrades to 0.7.6 or wants to use this
new scenery will need to have the 0.7.6 base package as well.
If you want to compile FlightGear-0.7.6 from source, you will also
need to first download and install plib-1.2.0 and SimGear-0.0.14.
Plib is available from "http://plib.sourceforge.net". SimGear is
available from "http://www.simgear.org".
For more information on this project, please visit the Flight Gear web
page at:

Version 0.7.6 includes some exciting new features. We now have high
resolution runway textures with accurate markings. Basic ground
lighting has been implemented with lights concentrated in urban and
built up areas. Quite a bit of work has been done on the instrument
panel infrastructure and we can now support "shaped" panels and
scrollable "virtual" panels that are larger than the screen. We've
added support for waypoint following to the autopilot. We've added a
basic piston engine model and have modeled rpm, egt, cht, mp, and
mixture. Aside from these more obvious changes, we've also done a ton
of work behind the scenes developing and updating the infrastructure
of this project, fixing bugs, and building better support for the
major compilers and environments available today. Please see the
FlightGear web site for a more detailed list of changes.
