RTC Class question.. with respect to ARM ..how does RTC class work ?

I'm stuck ...

I'm not sure how the RTC class, rtc-dev, rtc-proc,
rtc-sysfs works with an individual RTC driver, like
the rtc-at91rm9200.c

Pointers greatly appreciated.
