Thread-topic: How to take dump on linux

Hi,

I am using RHEL 4. I have one basic question…How do you force dump on linux….

I searched for the information on so many websites and found some tools like LKCD, KDUMP, etc. But all these tools require to patch the kernel.

I want a solution where I need to take dump with out patching.

Please help me in finding the solution.
