Device mappers ???

Hi all,
Where can I find information about device mappers ??
Regarding dm_table,dm_dev, dm_target.
I am having a look into the code, But I am not able to understand the
dependencies between the various structures and the function calls
defined.

I read about LVM as well, but it doesnt talk about its underlying mechanism.
