Tab Completion

Hi all,

First I truely apologize for this non-kernel question,
as just don't succeed in finding the answer,
and there's no one better than you guys.

how does the TAB completion work ?

what does it execute ?

I know that the shell is responsible for that,
but what does it invoke to take care of the TAB ?
