HZ and timeticks
Hi
I have read that HZ determines the system timeticks. It used to be set
to 100 (10 mseg), but now in some architectures in set to 1000 (1 mseg
teorically, but I have read in a book by Robert Love, that the miminum
is 5mseg).
If we apply the preemption, low-latency... patches, we can (at least so
I think) state that we could be safe with 1 mseg. period tasks. Has
anybody tried to lower the 5 mseg. limit? How much unsafe is to modify
HZ in other architectures (m68k for a Coldfire?).
Thanks
Miguel Ángel
