DEBUGFUNC messages in the e1000 driver

I'm trying to print the  DEBUGFUNC messages in the e1000 driver:-

To do so, I load the module with debug=16 option and am looking at the dmesg and /var/log/messages/. However in both these places I don't see the DEBUGFUNC messages, but I see my printk messages (with KERN_INFO log level).

Having seen that DEBUGFUNC simply calls printk with the loglevel KERN_DEBUG and since my log messages worked with the loglevel KERN_INFO, I changed DEBUGFUNC's loglevel to KERN_INFO, without success.

I also have klogd and syslogd running.

So can anyone tell me what's the right way to turnon these DEBUGFUNC messages ?
