process accounting status

Hi, 

I want to know if there is anyway by which I can query
whether process accounting is on or off on my system
(Linux) i.e. get the status of process accounting. 

program 'accton' only gives us option to switch it on
or off. similar is the case with acct() call. 

even getting the filename which is getting used for
the acounting will help me.
