Are you talking about the translation that occurs each and every time RAM is accessed?

That is done in hardware.  CPU asks for a logical address, MMU
converts that to a physical address on the fly.  Details are
architecture specific.

I think he meant the reverse page table lookup, i.e., from a physical memory address to a virtual memory address. In the Linux kernel, this is done by rmap. Read mm/rmap.c
