Re: kernel addr space in x86_64




What is the (default) kernel address space size in 64bit machines?

I am considering by saying 64-bit you mean x86_64

Does it matter???
I thought Linux had an abstraction layer so on all platforms you get the same partitioning.
Is it different on IA64?


I found previous conversations regarding the differences between IA64 and x86_64, but I don't see why the memory management should be different.

Thanks. That closes a gap, as I read that user address space is "only" 47bit.
